Iced chocolate milkshake

I Turned May I Hot Chocolate Into an Iced Milkshake – And It Was Delicious

When I first created May I Hot Chocolate, I imagined it as the perfect cosy drink for chilly evenings, rainy afternoons, and those moments when you simply need a little comfort in a mug.

But recently it was quite hot in the Uk and one of my customers mentioned making it with ice, something I hadn't thought of before:

"Have you ever tried it as an iced milkshake?" she asked.

I have to admit, I was curious.

So, I decided to give it a go.

I made May I hot chocolate the usual way in the microwave. It was too hot to mix it on the stove. I cooled it down (actually overnight) and then I blended one portion of ice with one portion of cooled hot chocolate. Within seconds I had a thick, creamy chocolate milkshake. The result surprised me. The rich cacao flavour that makes May I so comforting when served hot worked beautifully as a cold drink too. It was smooth, indulgent, and incredibly refreshing.

What I loved most was that it still had that signature May I taste. The deep chocolate flavour was there, but the ice gave it a lighter, summery feel. It felt like enjoying a dessert and a drink at the same time.

As the weather finally starts warming up in the UK, it's nice to know that May I Hot Chocolate doesn't need to be packed away until autumn. Whether you're relaxing in the garden, enjoying a sunny afternoon, or simply looking for a chocolate treat without turning on the kettle, an iced May I milkshake is a wonderful alternative.

To make your own, simply blend:

  • May I hot chocolate - properly cooled down

  • Same amount of ice

For an extra treat, top it with whipped cream, marshmallows, or a dusting of cacao powder.

Sometimes the best ideas come from our customers, and this one was definitely worth trying. If you make your own May I iced milkshake, I'd love to hear what you think.

Who knew that a hot chocolate could make such a lovely summer drink too?

May I be your comfort — hot or cold.
